Our School

Our intention is to provide a fully supported Christian foundation within a caring environment which will create opportunities for all children to achieve their full potential in the expectation that they will be able to apply their faith as responsible citizens in the service of the wider community.

As a Church of England school our purpose is to provide a broad curriculum which strives to achieve excellence within a Christian context. Through Religious Education and a daily act of worship, we also aim to develop an understanding and knowledge of Christianity whilst being aware of and respecting other faiths.

Value is placed on strong links between home, school and parish. We welcome the active involvement of our Clergy, Governors and Parent Teacher Association.

What are the key SDP priorities to  address these needs?


  • Maintain our Outstanding judgement (2018).
  • Ensure the school’s six core Christian values are embedded in school life.
  • Ensure that the school’s distinctive Christian characteristics are clearly apparent in the school.
  • Ensure effective leadership and management of the school as a church school.


  • Monitor and evaluate collective worship to ensure it reflects the needs of the whole school community
  • Further develop understanding of how the six core Christian values impact on their lives.
  • Further develop personal reflections in RE through extended pieces of writing.
  • Ensure teaching of RE is effective.

School performance

  • Improve outcomes for pupil premium pupils.
  • Improve pupil writing outcomes to national averages or above in all groups.
  • Improve science teaching and learning across the school.
  • Show improved outcomes as result of pupil premium funding in line or above national figures.
  • Produce an action plan to further improve writing progress across school.
  • Improve Science resources base (as part of whole school subject resource base).
  • Conduct a science audit and pupil work scrutiny.
  • Deliver Science CPDs and workshops.
  • Embed Science assessment and progress data recording.


Outside space

  • Improve outside play and learning experience for all ages.


  • Outside space improvements, particularly EYFS.
  • Purchase resources/equipment.
  • Ensure effective use of Sports funding.
  • Engage a sports lunchtime activity specialist.
  • Pursue school street possibilities as part of wider extended playground project.


Parental engagement

  • Encourage parental involvement to benefit the school community.
  • Improve parental involvement and school/home communication.
  • Ensure timely actions from parental survey and requests.
  • Further engage the PTA, including involvement in projects such as clean air, green wall and library.
