On Tuesday 19th October, all the members of school council went to the opening of a new learning area called 'Forest School' in Belgrave Square Gardens.  

 

School council members (a boy and girl ambassador from each year class) were able to attend the launch of the Forest School, which started at 10.30 am. We started by drawing leaves and making natural decorations. We had to find leaves around the area, grab our books and make a sketch and rubbing colouring pencils and crayons. We wandered around the leafy green area, admiring natural wonders: pale white mushrooms growing from the ground, leaves falling from nearby trees and a small fox's den!

 

After a while, the creators of the forest school, the Grosvenor Estate, made an informative speech, followed by an amazing poem read out by two students (not from St Peter's) about forests. Soon, a queue was formed and the green Forest School ribbon was cut by the poetry readers and our local Councillor! Everyone flooded into the creature area.

 

All of the areas had names. For example, 'Bugingham Palace', which was filled to the core with ladybirds and we saw a few worms in there! There was also a bee hive and the beekeeper told us all about how it works. At the end, each of us received a jar of honey to take home!

 

Before long, it was time to head back to school because it was lunchtime! After all that excitement and learning, electricity was running through our veins. It was truly an exciting time and will be a great memory.
