PE & School Sport Premium Funding

At St Peter's Eaton Square, we recognise the important role that physical education, physical activity and sport play in supporting children's physical health, mental wellbeing, confidence and overall development. The Government provides primary schools with PE and Sport Premium funding to improve the quality of PE and sport and to encourage all pupils to lead active, healthy lifestyles. Schools have the flexibility to determine how this funding is spent and are required to report on the impact it has on pupils.

We use our PE and Sport Premium funding to:

  • Employ a specialist sports coach to work alongside teachers, enhancing the quality of PE teaching and developing staff confidence and subject knowledge
  • Deliver a wide range of lunchtime activities and after-school sports clubs, providing pupils with regular opportunities to be physically active
  • Train and support our Year 6 Playground Sports Leaders, who organise and lead active games for younger pupils during break and lunchtime
  • Provide Forest School sessions that promote physical development, resilience, teamwork, problem-solving and a love of the outdoors
  • Deliver specialist swimming lessons and water safety instruction for pupils in year 4, 5 and 6
  • Enable pupils to participate in local sports competitions, festivals and inter-school events through membership of local sports partnerships.
  • Invest in professional development for staff to continually improve the quality of PE teaching across the school.

We are proud to have achieved Healthy Schools Gold Status, recognising our whole-school commitment to promoting health and wellbeing, providing high-quality physical education and ensuring every child has the opportunity to enjoy, participate and succeed in sport and physical activity.
