Pupil Voice

The term ‘pupil voice’ refers to ways of listening to the views of pupils and/or involving them in decision-making. At St Peter's School we believe that it is vital to engage pupils as active participants in their education and in making a positive contribution to their school and local community.

We involve and listen to the views of all our pupils and, following DfE Guidance (click for link), pupils are represented by the School Council and House and Sports Captains.

All pupils and staff join one of the four school houses: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

House Credits are awarded to children each week for effort, achievement, kindness, politeness and generally upholding the school ethos. Each week at the Celebration Assembly the total number of House Credits are collected by House Captains and the winning House is announced. At the end of each half term, the winning house will be treated to a special prize!

House Captains

House Captains are appointed from Year 6. Children across years 3-6 gather in their houses, where year 6 children will present a speech or presentation on why they should be House Captain. Children in the house then vote on their representative.

These children will help to organise school events and can be asked to represent the school on special occasions.

Student Council

Two children from each class are voted in by their classmates, each term, to become part of our School Council team and Right Respecting Committee. Each week, these members meet with Mrs Foley/ Mrs Sidhu- Pepper to discuss school matters and pupil concerns or suggestions.

Last year, our school council planned a 'Pyjama day', started our paper recycling scheme, played an instrumental role in our 'St Peter's in Bloom' planting initiative and held a Rights Respecting Workshop for parents. We can't wait to see what exciting things they'll get up to this year!
